Mandatory Training

----------------------------------------------------------------

Notice Details

1. Mandatory Training
from George Mawko, Dartmouth Area Commissioner (scoutergeorge@ns.sympatico.ca)

A recommendation will be made to the Board that mandatory training be completed by all volunteers prior to working with youth.  This training will include:

- Orientation (Module 1 of WB1),
- Accessibility training (e.g. how to interact with people who have various disabilities), and
- Child & youth safety training.

Scouts Canada will be introducing basic Child & Youth Safety and Accessibility training programs over the next couple of weeks.  It is our expectation that all volunteers will complete this training prior to volunteering in the next Scouting year (this includes both new and returning volunteers).

The initial training will be available online, and there will be an accompanying facilitator guide that will assist Support Scouters to share the training with small groups of volunteers in person.

More details to follow once the training is available. If you have any specific questions, please let me know.

Dartmouth Venturer volunteers wanted for Fantasy Camp!

from Laura Ripley, 1st Woodlawn Rovers (lauraripley@eastlink.ca)

Calling all Venturer Companies!

It's time to start thinking about Fantasy Camp, as it's not that far away!
Knights of the Crimson Cross are looking for one or two Venturer companies from Dartmouth to run stations for the Scouts during the game.

These activities should tie into the game and add to the experience.
We would like applications from Companies who are interested in putting on a station this year. Included in the application we would like:

  • What activity you would like to run.
  • Detailed information about the activity (how it works, set up time, how long it will take the Scouts out of the game, etc)
  • How many Venturers would be needed to run it, and how many would be on site during the weekend.
  •  What area of camp you would like (a map would be excellent, or a detailed description).
  •  Any other information you think we should know about your project or company.
Also please include what Company you are from, and at least one contact name and email from your Company.
Applications must be in by May 4th.

If you have any questions or concerns please email Laura Ripley at lauraripley@eastlink.ca, or call her at 446-6203.
