Song of the Eagle

SONG OF THE EAGLE

The Nova Scotia Council in pleased to announce that we will be visited in early August by a group of Scouting youth from the USA  who specialize in Native American dancing. This group is world recognized and highly sought after and we are extremely fortunate to have them visit Nova Scotia on their current Eastern North American tour. Check out www.kwahadi.com

The group will be holding a performance at 7:30 p.m. on August  2, 2011 at Exhibition Park Arena where they will display their skills. They will be joined in this performance by traditional dancers from First Nations groups here in Nova Scotia. Proceeds from the sale of tickets for this performance will be used to support Scouting in N.S. Council.

This is an excellent opportunity for your Scouting youth to meet these visitors and to be exposed to what can be achieved from dedication and hard work. It is also a wonderful opportunity to help raise funds to support Scouting here in our Council.

Ticket prices are very reasonable and it will be a wonderful night of family entertainment.  Please encourage your youth and parents to put this on their calendar and to invite their non-scouting friends as well.

Tickets may be purchased by calling or visiting the Scouts Canada Council Office, 84 Thorne Ave. Dartmouth or phone 423-9227.  The cost is very reasonable for this wonderful night of entertainment.

Please see the attachment click here for more details or visit the Council website www.ns.scouts.ca

A few quotes from recent attendees at this group's performances:

A national travel radio broadcaster attended the show in early June.  His reaction on air:  “I attended a most unique performance last night that made the hair on my neck stand up.  It was amazing!  It should be mandatory attendance for everybody in America to attend this show!”

An 18 year old staffer at Philmont came up and said, “Four years ago I was ready to quit Scouting.  Then I saw your show.  Now I’m an Eagle Scout and on the Philmont staff!”

Song of the Eagle is a colorful, powerful, amazing performance of traditional dance, but it is mainly about kids and those who have an interest in kids!  It about simple ideas for youth and Scouters.   As a Cherokee friend once to told us, “You bring out the best of our cultures, and you are using the gifts of song and dance you have been given in the right way – to benefit children.”

The time you spend with a child is important.  You just never know when a moment, which perhaps youdid not even notice, will make an amazing difference in the future!  Raising our children is our most important work!  Scouting is a POWER TOOL for families to join together to create magnificent experiences for their children!
